Chin Up is a support group for survivors of sexual assault. We are based in Cardiff and our mission is to provide a safe and supportive space for survivors to come together and heal. We organise monthly sessions of fun activities to promote socialisation and build a sense of community among survivors.

Launching Queer Chin Up Cardiff!

Chin Up Cardiff will now offer alternative sessions to support survivors of sexual violence to anyone who is part of the queer community, regardless of gender identity.

These sessions will be separate to our usual sessions which will remain available to anyone who identifies as she/her/ or she/they.

If you would like to take part in shaping our Queer Chin Up Cardiff sessions, please see the link in our bio for a quick questionnaire, we would love to hear from you.

The first Queer session will be running in April! We will announce more information on this closer to the time.

Our next session coming up in February: Dopamine Diaries 📝🎯

The new year offers a chance to reset our goals and review our priorities and thus the idea of creating ‘dopamine diaries’ came about.

You will have access to a variety of book making materials to produce a book of your choice. This could include a personalised journal, recipe book or hobby book. You can create anything that will motivate you to try new things or stay on top of hobbies you enjoy. We’re hoping this will help us get us through the winter months🤞

Ella was honoured to be invited to the All-Party Parliamentary Dog Advisory Welfare Group meeting on 21st October. The topic of discussion focused on ‘Protecting Pets in Domestic Abuse’. This experience was only made possible thanks to @drmarcthevet, so thank you Marc! ❤️

We were guided through some restorative, gentle yoga before following the waterways through the beautiful park and spotting some local wildlife! This session will give you a chance to escape into nature and unwind. The session will run from 10-12pm on Saturday 23rd August. We are meeting at the Forest Farm tree nursery (check out the map on the last slide). There will be yoga in the tree nursery before the walk, as well as some cool down exercises at the end of the session.

We are so excited for our next session which will be led by the wonderfully talented ceramicist @madebyrayart 🤍 Ray attended our last fundraiser back in April and this was the first time we saw their creations up close - we were in awe! 😍 Ray has very kindly offered to run a session for us so if you’re keen to try pottery making with an expert make sure to sign up in advance - link is in our bio. 🏺 All materials will be provided and the session will be in our usual spot in the yurt at @paradisegardencdf 🤍

We are so excited for our next session which will be led by the wonderfully talented ceramicist @madebyrayart 🤍 Ray attended our last fundraiser back in April and this was the first time we saw their creations up close - we were in awe! 😍 Ray has very kindly offered to run a session for us so if you’re keen to try pottery making with an expert make sure to sign up in advance - link is in our bio. 🏺 All materials will be provided and the session will be in our usual spot in the yurt at @paradisegardencdf 🤍

Our first tree planting session with Coed Caerdydd was a huge success! We can’t wait for our second session with the team on Saturday June 7th (10am-12pm)☀️

This will involve watering, seeding and some planting of seedlings🪴

The UK Supreme Court has ruled that the legal definition of a woman is based on biological sex. This means transgender women with a gender recognition certificate are no longer entitled to sex-based protections set out in the Equality Act 2010. This decision leaves transgender people unsure where they stand regarding single sex spaces and services.

Chin Up Cardiff supports anyone who identifies as a woman, including transgender women, because trangender women ARE WOMEN. We also include people who identify as she/they and they/she.

We are working to grow our services, by running additional sessions to accommodate the LGBTQAI+ community. We want to work together to support people who have been victims of sexual violence. Especially in light of the recent ruling which will make it more difficult for more of this community to access support services.

If anyone has been affected by the ruling or knows anyone who needs some extra support during this time, please find below a list of trans focused spaces and services based in Cardiff/ Wales and the UK that will support you.

We are so excited to announce our dog walking (& summer snacking) session☀️🐶

We ran this session last year & it was a huge success, we all had so much fun so we had to do it again this year😇

We will be meeting by The Secret Garden Cafe in Bute Park at 6:30pm on Thursday 1st May☕️

We will be bringing a couple of our own dogs who are calm and friendly (keep an eye on our Instagram to be introduced to them!). Please feel free to bring along your own dogs or just come by yourself.

We have planned a gentle walk which is about 1.5 miles and should take between 35-45 minutes. We will stick to the path, taking an easy pace and stick as a group so this walk is accessible for everyone. There will also be plenty of opportunity to sit, chat & enjoy some snacks so feel free to bring food (or dog biscuits) if you would like!
